Summer Triathlon Series - Race 1 - Macandrew Bay - Sunday 18th December 2011

Race 1 of the Summer Triathlon Series at Macandrew Bay started with rain and cold winds calling for the course to be shortened. However, as the race got underway the weather cleared to a reasonably nice day. Guy Carter who started the bike leg by colliding into a pole won the race overall followed by Greg Hannah and Mary Gray in third. For full results check out the results section of the website. Well done to all who raced in tough conditions

Club nights at Taieri College pool

Every Monday night at the Taieri College swimming pool (in Church Street, Mosgiel) we hold a club night. The nights run each week from 6pm to 7pm and all club members are welcome.

The session is free to members - and we have a swim coach who caters for all training levels. So come along, meet fellow club members and work on that swim technique and fitness. New members are welcome.

Regional Youth Coaching

The Triathlon Youth Development program is run by the Dunedin Triathlon Club and Triathlon New Zealand. The desired outcome is to increase the number of youth participating in triathlon. The aim for the Dunedin Triathlon Club is to have a group of secondary aged students travelling to Karapiro on the 29th of March to participate in the Secondary Schools Triathlon Champs. The Youth Development Program informally starts on Monday the 14th of November where we will be having a meeting to discuss the weeks following, however, athletes are free to join the prgram during the first few weeks. Three coached sessions will be run each week, a swim session, bike session and a run session. Athletes will be given a program to follow outside of these sessions. Athletes must be able to attend at least one session per week however we understand that throughout Christmas many may be away. The program will finish on Friday 23rd of March 2012.

What we are looking for is any secondary aged student that may show a talent in triathlon, or a student that is interested in getting into triathlon and excels at either cycling, running or swimming. The course is funded by Triathlon New Zealand and the most the athletes will have to pay is their airfares, accomodation etc. to Karapiro if they decide to race and entry into the pool for their sessions.

If you are interested in this program then please contact Jason on 034531984 or

Exponential Performance

Otago Triathlon Academy

In October 2009 Triathlon New Zealand has joined forces with the Otago Polytechnic Institute of Sport & Adventure to set up the Otago Triathlon Academy. The academy has been set up in Dunedin to try to bridge the gap between promising triathlete and elite performer.

Our primary focus is to cater for emerging triathletes who are studying in year 13, University or at Polytechnic, through the provision of a fully supported training environment. Our aim is to work with the athletes' coaches in further developing the athlete and preparing them for international competition. The two year programme is limited to a maximum of 12 athletes a year, ensuring that the athlete develop in all aspects, from technical, tactical, nutritional, academic and of course training to produce the complete all round athlete without compromising their studies.
